In July, 2008, Nora, her father (George Skerry) and I took a week and a half vacation to the northeast. Here are a few photos.

Here is a close-up of the tree pressing against the house, that was talked about in yesterday's blog entry.

Here's something you don't see today. It's called a 'Gentleman's Door'. Notice how thin it is.

By the same token, you won't see a door like this today either. It's called a 'Lady's Door' and is much wider than the gentlemen's door. No, it has nothing to do with women being 'wider' than men. In early America, women wore large hoop skirts. Therefore, they needed a larger door.
