Fr. Mitch Pacwa - Threshold of Hope

FatherMitchPacwa.jpgFr. Mitch Pacwa hosts a show on EWTN called "Threshold of Hope".

I've watched it several times and like the way he presents everything.

Lately, he's been going through the writings of Pope John Paul II. Some of what he says goes over my head, but he does his best to explain everything.

Dear Father Pacwa,
Went to Holy Mass on Sunday and the priests homily on the Matt 15:21-28 began by saying that Jesus was prejudice. He said that Jesus was fully God and fully man and that the two natures didn't mix well. He said that Jesus didn't commit personal sin in this, but that it was a collective community sin, because the people in the region were prejudiced against gentiles and he was too. He grew up that way because there were only 200 people in the village and thats what he learned. When he came to the line that reads "It is not right to give the food of the children and throw it to the dogs." he said it in such a harsh derogatori way with his booming theatrical voice that I cringed. He then went on to say something to the effect that Jesus redeemed himself by acknowledging the womans faith.....and then went on to say that we can change our prejudices too.... He said that he had a prejudice against the Spanish language but that he is trying to overcome this and that it is very hard for people to learn English as a second language...The only language harder to learn was Chinese (We have a rather large Hispanic population here and he doesn't appreciate them and many have stopped going to church here.) What even made it worse was that this was the mass that the college students go to and the church was packed. What can I do. I can't speak to him about it. (I approached him about the Voters Guide for Serious Catholics and he said that Catholic Answers is a radical group and that the booklet was illegal...I work for Right to Life and he doesn't like us either ...explained to him that there are 351 babies killed every month a mile or 2 miles from the Cathederal where he is Administrator and he didn't want to hear it he said that there are alot of social issues and he named health care and the death penalty. He was so annoyed with me that he slammed the door when I left) The homily on Sunday sounded like heresy to me. Jesus said "Whatever you do to the least of mine you do to me" and He said "Love God above all things and love your neighbor as yourself" He forgave the Jews and the Romans from the cross amidst unbelievable suffering...Can't believe that he said that about Jesus. The only time I have been taken back was when Jesus cursed the fig tree.....and then he wasn't wrong...he was God, he created the tree and the tree didn't obey when he told it to bear figs...something to think about....how generous and forgiving he is to us..
WHAT DO I DO ABOUT THIS SITUATION....I'M NOT WELL EDUCATED...AM I ALL WRONG IN THIS. PLEASE HELP.
I pray for Fr Foster.
Love your homilies, and all your programs...Please don't stop...pray for you alot. If you decide to answer this question on the air or whatever...edit it. I declare no pride of ownership....would appreciate an email reply from you or your designate
Peace and Prayers (This situation gives me no Peace)

Hi Fr. Mitch,
Thank you for all you do to bring people (especially me) to the truth about our faith. You are a very important person in my faith journey. Thank you.

Question:

Please send me the link to your January (maybe February) program that you spoke about FOCA and Nancy Pelosi. I would also appreciate it if you could send me the correct information on the legislation. I would like to respond in support to local issues related to our Catholic teachings and I want to make sure I have the facts correct.

Thank you,

Father can you please explain why we have more books in the bible than the king james version. Did we add or did they take away books? Although our bible study group has more catholics than members of other faiths, it is a very important question. Thank you, Father and God bless.
