Mr. Coffee 3 Quart Ice Tea Maker

MrCoffeeIcedTeaMaker.jpgAt a recent planning meeting with Ron Malle, one of the newly appointment members of the Depraved Brain cabinet, your truly was served a delicious glass of freshly brewed ice tea.

A long-time lover of both hot and cold tea, the Depraved Brain decided that it was time to find out the secrets for a fresh brewed batch of ice tea.

JoAnn, wife of Ron Malle, shared the secrets - Mr. Coffee Ice Tea Maker. Possessing a 3 quart model, she quickly explained how to brew up this wonderful drink. It was so easy, the Depraved Brain, didn't have to take notes.

Noting the brand, model, and size, he along with the Depraved Brain wife and mother stopped at WalMart on the way back to the Depraved Brain Whitehouse.

Three quarts is quite a bit of ice tea. Of course, you can also make 1 or 2 quarts.

For my first test I decided on 2 quarts. I just filled the water level up to 2, then poured into the machine. I checked the instructions which said to use between 2-4 regular teabags in the strainer. It also said to add a coffee filter. As I had no coffee filters available, I just added the tea bags. I decided to go with 3 teabags for 2 quarts this time. I also set the brewing strength right in the middle of the dial.

Within 10 minutes the process was complete.

I then added a combination of ice cubes and ice water up to the proper level indicated on the plastic pitcher.

A few minutes later I poured a glass. As this wasn't sweetened, I then 'guessed' and added one packet of Equal sweetener. It didn't seem to be enough in my 16 oz glass, so I added a second.

Also, I have some packets of lemon sweetener. I added a very small amount of one packet. It tasted great.

As I like my iced tea very fresh, 2 quarts might be a bit much for me to make at one time. I might try making only 1 quart next time. Also, I like 'mint' tea, but Nora doesn't. I could try making a smaller amount and experiment with different flavors and brands of tea.

Loose tea would also work well with the ice tea maker. By the way, you can also buy larger 'family size' tea bags, not the standard size bag we are accustomed to.

I believe the cost was about $20, which was paid for out of our own pocket. Unlike other politicians, the Deparved Brian President doesn't live off taxpayers.
